Tsiknopempti is part of the traditional Cypriot and Greek celebrations and it is the kickstart of the Carnival season. It is translated to “Smokey or Smelly Thursday” because of the smoke and smell of the grilled meat in the air and it is celebrated 11 days before “Clean Monday”.
The festivities of this day revolve around outdoor parties and the consumption of large amounts of grilled and roasted meats, in order to prepare for the fasting period coming up in a few days.
Our team gathered today at our premises to celebrate Tsiknopempti and welcome the Carnival season. The celebrations included tasty souvlaki and other meat products, games and positive vibes!
